The sandbox is the execution layer behind an autonomous agent. Its performance directly affects how long users wait for the agent to finish.

Running code is only the beginning. A coding agent also has to recover earlier work, reach package registries and APIs, and expose something the user can inspect.

StarSling tested this layer under real workloads. In its July 23 benchmark, we were the only provider to rank in the top two across all six performance dimensions. Across the 17 real-world metrics where we returned a published result, we ranked first in eight and second in nine.

Production agents need more than disposable execution. They need a computer they can return to, storage that keeps useful work available, and networking that connects the task to the right services under the right controls.

Teams should evaluate how long agents spend rebuilding environments, whether state persists, how they reach tools and services, and how much infrastructure the team must operate itself.
